Bill Kountz is being recognized for his athletic contributions to Northland College, both as a student and as an alumnus. While at Northland, Kountz, a member of the Class of 1965, played baseball, football, basketball, and golf. He spent four years as a member of the baseball team playing first base and played for three years on both the football and basketball teams, taking his junior year off. Kountz, a forward, was a member of the 1961-62 basketball team that won the Badger-Gopher Conference and competed in the NAIA district 14 playoffs. Bill was a versatile football player, taking up positions on the field as an offensive tackle, defensive tackle, defensive end, and tight end. He played on the golf team as an upperclassman, during his junior and senior years.
Kountz, whose degree from Northland is in Business Administration, is the owner of W.A.K. Enterprises, a manufacturer's representative and sales agency in Milwaukee, which he founded in 1981. His daughter, Greta Jean Kountz, is a vice president at W.A.K. Enterprises. Kountz is also co-owner and Vice President of Sales of Systematic Machining, Inc. and Beta Wisconsin, Ltd., located in Muscoda and Milwaukee, respectively. An active community member, Kountz is a member of the Tuckaway Country Club, Milwaukee Athletic Club, Muskies, Inc., the WAMA and MANA Associations, American legion, and serves on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Golf Foundation. An active member of Northland's alumni association, Kountz is a chair of the annual Midwest Golf Outing. His other sports passion is fishing.
