Howard was the most prolific scorer in Northland College basketball history. The Ashland native set a season scoring record of 433 points as a senior in 1952 that has only been exceeded twice since. His four year career total of 1,485 points still stands as a Northland record. Howard was the star center on some of Northland's finest teams. He was a first team selection in the Upper Peninsula Athletic conference in 1949, 1950, 1951, and 1952, the only player in the league history to be named four years in a row. Howard is now an administrator in the West Bend, Wisconsin school system.
