Hall of Fame
Ross Miller came to Northland from Long Beach, California, where he was an honorable mention performer in the Moore League, one of the finest conferences in California. In his freshman season at Northland, Ross earned Rookie of the Year honors; he played 1080 minutes and started 33 games, eclipsing any hardwood mark in Northland history. Injuries took their toll in his sophomore year, and Ross missed nine games. He bounced back in his junior year, and earned the Most Improved Player award.
In his senior year, Ross helped the Lumberjacks to a first ever NAIA Regional championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. He finished his career at Northland with 1001 points, 528 rebounds, and 238 assists. Ross shared MVP Honors with Chris Blissett in their senior years.
Ross graduated in 1997 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. He came to Northland, not for its environmental emphasis, but to play basketball. He also chose Northland because his mother wanted him to get away from gang-infested southern California. Ross succeeded at Northland, and returned to his hometown to make a difference in the lives of other students. Ross is the Gym Supervisor for the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation Department, in charge of youth and adult sports programs. He also helps with the teen center at his park.
Northland is proud to recognize the achievements of Ross Miller.
