Don's successful athletic career at Northland College was apparent from the numerous accolades he received from 1960 to 1962. Don lettered in football in 1960, 1961, and 1962. He was an NAIA honorable mention quarterback and a Williamson Small College honorable quarterback. As an integral part of the 1960-61 basketball "Dream Team," he lettered in basketball for the following two seasons. Don also participated in baseball in 1962 and played on the Ashland city team in the state amateur tournament at County Stadium in Milwaukee. Following Northland, through coaching,Don continued to pursue a lifestyle that included athletics. Today Don lives with his wife Kay and their dog Hershey, "seven miles from the civilized portion of Florence, Wisconsin."
