Kim came to Northland from Dulaney High School in Maryland and quickly became an asset to both the women's volleyball and basketball teams. According to then coach Marlene Parkhurst, Kim was "a leading influence during all of her four years on the (volleyball) team. She's an outstanding blocker and a hard hitter." She received the George Barr Scholarship in 1978 and the Milton Gardner Award, which is presented to an outstanding athlete and scholar. She was named Most Valuable Player during her senior year. Kind is presently Area Manager of the Patapsco Valley State Park in Maryland.
