Northland College is proud to recognize Beth (Tanula) Rikkola for her outstanding career as a member of the Northland College women’s basketball team. A four year starter (1996-2000), Beth helped the LumberJills reach a new level of excellence by leading the team in scoring all four years to become the school’s all-time leading scoring with 1,491 career points. She also finished fifth in assists (382) and sixth in steals (191). During the 1998-99 academic year, Northland College joined the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, and Beth helped the team to two first-place finished and was named to the All-Conference team in both her junior and senior years. During her career, the Jills achieved a school record of 69 wins, tied a school record for single season wins with 22, and made their first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national tournament appearance in 1999.
Beth has been a fifth grade teacher in the Sevastopol, Wisconsin, school system since 2001, where she is the mathematics coordinator for the elementary school. She has coached middle school basketball, track, and junior varsity basketball, and she has been an assistant high school track coach. Beth lives in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, with her husband Ben and their daughters Baily, Naomi, and Sadie.
