Jack Mattieson was selected to be a member of the Northland College Athletic Hall of Fame for his significant contributions to Northland Hockey both as a student athlete in the late 1950's and later as a driving force in the restart of the hockey program in 1997. Jack was an outstanding defensemen on the Northland Hockey team for three seasons from 1956-1959, while simultaneously playing with the Ironwood Jets in the Northern Michigan-Wisconsin League where he eared league All Star honors. He served as team captain all three years and had the distinction of playing all 60 minutes in a game during the 1957-58 season. After graduating from Northland, Jack went on to play minor league hockey.

Jack had a successful career as a securities trader in the Detroit area. During his career he worked with three New York Stock Exchange firms as either a partner or vice president, and pioneered the method used for market-making in the trading of inactive securities. He served as President of the Board of Directors or the Securities Traders Association of Detroit and

on the National Association of Security Dealers arbitration and enforcement committees.

Jack graduated from Northland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. In addition to hi involvement with hockey, Jack was an active member of the Bet Chi fraternity and the "N" Club while at Northland. He currently resides in Dearborn Heights, Michigan with his wife, Georgiana. They have two children, Mace and Chiara.
