Hall of Fame
Northland College takes pride in recognizing Chris Blissett for his Northland career, on and off the court. Chris, a 6’3” guard/forward, was a two-time All American NAIA Region selection. He finished with career totals of 1,397 points, 471 rebounds, and 238 assists, and helped the Lumberjacks to an NAIA Division II national tournament berth his senior year. He twice earned the Sportsmanship award, and was cited as Most Valuable Player in 1995, and shared co-MVP honors with Ross Miller in 1996. Known to his teammates as “Captain America”, he was co-captain of the winningest team in Northland’s history.
Chris went on to play international basketball with the Norwegian Elite-Division as the lone American on the Honefess Basketballklubb in 1999. While on the team, he developed a new logo and team mascot, the AHonefess Golden Bears.
Chris was also a star off the court. A writing major, he served as a student advisor and writing tutor, and was nominee for Student Employee of the Year in 1996. Chris earned a major merit award in English, and was elected by his peers as the Senior Speaker for Commencement.
Chris is a founding member of the Neuger Communications Group, Inc. As executive Vice-president, he leads a team of PR professionals serving clients in multiple sectors, including education and law.
Chris resides in St. Louis Park, Minnesota with his wife, Hana Niemi Blissett ’96, herself an athletic standout at Northland.
