Duane "Tweet" Jensen was an outstanding basketball player in the years just before and after World War II. The 1940 yearbook states, "Northland's fortune on the basketball floor took a decided upward turn with Tweet's enrollment. He supplied height and ability which was needed to spell the difference between defeat and victory." A consistent high scorer and rebounder, Tweet played at center and served as team captain during his sophomore year. When the war began, Tweet left Northland College to join the armed forces. He served in Europe and was eventually taken prisoner in Germany. In January 1946, he returned to Northland and was the basketball team's leading scorer during the 1947-48 season.

Tweet majored in history and minored in English and social science. He served on the Student Life and Wedge staffs and was a member of the Vets Club. Tweet is a past president of the Northland College Alumni Association and is employed as a stockbroker with Paine Webber in Duluth.
