Bob Carlson is being recognized for his dedication to the sport of football - both in his outstanding career at Northland and in his distinguished coaching career. Bob came to Northland from Gladstone High School in Gladstone, Michigan. At Northland, Bob earned his letter in football every year, was named twice to the Wisconsin Independent Colleges Association's All-Conference Team, and was a team member for Northland's outstanding 7-2 season in 1974.

Bob is Head Coach at Ontonagon High School in Ontonagon, Michigan where he is in his twentieth year. His overall team record is 117-45-4. Since 1987, Bob has coached his Ontonagon team to their conference state semifinals and finals, regional finals, and state playoff qualifier levels with winning seasons of 8-0, 7-2, 12-1, 11-1, 10-1, 9-1, and 11-1. Bob has been honored with regional and class Coach of the Year awards from the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association, Detroit News, Associated Press, and U.P. Sportswriters & Sportscasters. He has received the Conference Coach of the Year award seven times, consecutively since 1989.

Bob graduated from Northland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He attended Northern Michigan University after Northland College. In addition to his coaching, he is also a Guidance Counselor at Ontonagon High School.
