Northland College is proud to recognize Olaf Kirsten for his outstanding achievement as a men's soccer player. In 1982, Olaf was the first captain of the varsity men's soccer team. Olaf was a two-time captain of the Lumberjacks. He was named to the National Small College Athletic Association (NSCAA) All-American Honorable Mention team, and a two time member of the NAIA All-Region Team.

After graduating from Northland in 1985, Olaf became a teacher. He taught kindergarten and high school English in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from 1989 until 1998. In 1998, Olaf moved to Washburn, Wisconsin to teach high school English. He has also been a soccer coach for many years. Olaf was a Santa Fe High School varsity boys soccer coach from 1993-1998, New Mexico Olympic Development Soccer Coach from 1996-1998, and in 2000, took over the boys and girls high school soccer program in Washburn. Olaf is also the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Chequamegon Bay Soccer Club.

Olaf lives in Washburn, Wisconsin with his wife, Gina Kirsten.
