Leonard Westman, a 1949 graduate of Northland College, lettered two years in basketball and four years in football. He was Vice President of his class. His Northland education was interrupted by a service in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Westman earned his M. Ed. from Rutgers University in 1957, served as a social studies teacher, coach and administrator in Wisconsin and New Jersey schools. He has been Superintendent of Schools at Lower Camden County Regional High School District #1 since 1965.

He holds numerous appointments in community, civic and educational organizations. Since 1973 he has been President of The Conservation and Environmental Studies Center. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, having just completed a term as President. Westman is married and has two daughters and one son. He has a sister, Mrs. Shirley Westman Grand of Ashland, and two brothers, Gilbert Westman of Ashland and Howard Westman of Baring, Oregon.
