Northland College Athletics

Sophie Krautmann grew up on her family owned and operated organic vegetable farm outside of St. Louis Missouri in the town of Hillsboro.  She is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Krautmann.  Living and working on the farm all of her life has taught her many things and influenced her life in many ways.  “It has taught me the value of a hard day of manual labor and to respect the world around me as well as how to care for the earth in environmentally responsible ways”.

Being earth-friendly is something extremely important to Sophie. This greatly influenced her college choice.  She also chose Northland College because of its small class sizes, soccer program, and top-rated biology program.

She has been playing soccer all of her life.  She started playing on a team in first grade, but gives credit to her brother for planting the seed and playing with her even before that time.  She fell in love with the game and has never stopped playing.  She started playing with the High School varsity team her freshman year, and solidified a starting position her sophomore year.  Her senior year, she contributed to her high school team’s best record in their programs history. To top it off, she scored a game winning goal from a 40 yard free kick, and directly contributed to destroying their rival team.

She is excited to get the chance to replicate those feelings during her athletic career for the Lumberjills at Northland College.
