LumberJacks begin penultimate series against No. 10 UW-Stevens Point

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team enters the penultimate week of the regular season as they travel to No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a two-game series, starting on Friday with a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Last week, Northland hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stout in its final home game of the season. In the series finale, John Leppert scored his first collegiate goal in the final period. Dakota Meyer was in net for both games and recorded a total of 77 saves.
 
Joe Weber is the Jacks' point leader after earning his sixth point with an assist. This season, the freshman has three goals and three assists. Logan Gallagher leads the team in goals with five, while Hunter Nelson, Mac Reed, and Ben Stewart share the team lead with four assists. Defensively, Trey Taylor leads the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with 44 blocked shots, while Sam Holy ranks third with 37. In goal, Meyer has made 440 saves, and Andrew Yocum has 387.
 
In the most recent US College Hockey Online polls, UW-Stevens Point maintained its 10th-place ranking. The Pointers have a 15-5-1 record and are 7-3-1 in conference play. Last week, their eight-game winning streak was snapped by a 3-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. However, in their following game, the Pointers bounced back with a 6-2 victory. Dawson Sciarrino and Peyton Hart lead the WIAC with 15 goals each. Sciarrino also leads UWSP in points with 27, including 12 assists.
