Men’s Hockey wrapped up in UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team wrapped up at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 4-0 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday night in Eau Claire, Wis.
 
The Blugolds struck early, scoring two minutes into the game. Ben Stewart would have the first shot for the LumberJacks. Luke VanBaalen would have two shots in the first period but could not get past the goaltender. After the early goal, Dakota Meyer would make nine more saves for NC to only trail by one after the first intermission.
 
Logan Gallagher and Valerii Kneib would have two early shots to start the second period. Northland would be on the penalty kill but after facing four shots, Meyer kept the lead to only one. The Jacks would have a few more chances down the stretch but could not capitalize trialing the Blugolds 1-0 after two.
 
The third period is when things fell apart for Northland. The Jacks only recorded one shot in the final period from Dyson Germann as UW-Eau Claire would net three goals to win 4-0.
 
VanBaalen led the LumberJacks with three shots with Germann, Kneib, Gallagher, and Brock Hart following with two. VanBaalen also led the team in blocked shots with two. Mac Reed and Nik Johnson matched him as well. In the net, Meyer made 41 saves.
