ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Softball Team will not compete in the 2025 season announced on February 25.
 
Northland College Athletics announced today the Softball Team will not compete in the 2025 season. The decision has been made in the best interests of the student-athletes. The news of the closing of Northland College hit the softball team hard and, as a result, will cancel the 2025 season.
 
"I want to thank Coach Dana Wiezorek and the current student-athletes for staying at Northland and seeking the opportunity to play," stated Athletics Director Dan Schumacher. "Unfortunately, with the closing announcement, the team has lost several players, which has required us to forfeit the season due to a lack of roster numbers. I want to wish all the best to the student-athletes and coaching staff as they move on to future opportunities."
 
Northland College Athletics would like to thank everyone who has supported the Softball Team over the years.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
