LumberJacks host UW-Eau Claire for a two-game WIAC series this weekend

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team returns to the Bay Area Civic Center for a two-game Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this weekend. Action begins on Friday at 7 p.m., with the series concluding at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Last week, Northland secured its first win of the season in a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over St. Mary's University. Freshman Tristen Bear tied the game at one, and Brock Hart scored the overtime winner just 30 seconds into the extra frame. Hart's goal was the first of his collegiate career. Andrew Yocum played a pivotal role in the victory, saving a career-high 51 shots, which earned him WIAC Athlete of the Week honors.
 
Logan Gallagher and Joe Weber lead Northland with five points on the season. Gallagher's points all come from goals, while Weber has recorded three goals and two assists. Four LumberJacks follow closely behind with four points: Andronique Stepanian, Valerii Kneib, Hunter Nelson, and Ben Stewart. Junior Sam Holy leads the WIAC with 31 blocked shots, while Trey Taylor ranks third with 29. In goal, Dakota Meyer and Yocum have split time, with Meyer recording 319 saves and Yocum 335.
 
The Blugolds come into the conference series with a 6-10-1 record and are 4-3 in WIAC play. Last weekend, UW-Eau Claire went 1-1, defeating Saint John's University 6-4 before falling 3-1 to Hamline University. Junior Leo Bacallao leads the Blugolds with nine points, including four goals and five assists. Max Gutjahr has started 14 games in goal for UW-Eau Claire, posting a 90.8 percent save percentage with 314 saves.
