SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team fell 6-0 to the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Thursday night in Superior, Wis.

It took three minutes before the first shot on target for either team with UWS sending it to Andrew Yocum who turned the puck away. Soon after the Jacks were down a man, and on the penalty kill, where they only gave up one shot, that Yocum stopped. Christian Shields had the first NC shot on target after the power play ended. The Yellowjackets struck first 10 minutes in and added a second 39 seconds later. Nearing the end of the period the Jacks were on the power play. Valerii Kneib had the LumberJacks' sole shot on frame during the two minutes.

A minute into the second period NC was back a man up and again Kneib was the only one who could get a shot on target with the extra skater. The Jacks' defense soon after killed off another penalty while keeping the damage to two. After only recording two shots in the first, Northland had 12 shots in the second but still remained scoreless. The Yellowjackets would score two more goals in a span of a minute and a half to double their lead after two.

The third period went just like the two prior with Northland sending a few shots toward goal but remained held out and UW-Superior netted two more.

Kneib led the Jacks with four of the team's 18 shots on target. Behind him were Logan Gallagher, Hunter Nelson, and Nolan Christy with three. Shields chipped in two. The defense blocked 16 shots with Sam Holy stopping a team-high three. In net, Yocum made 43 saves.

The Jacks and Yellowjackets complete the home-and-home series on Saturday in Ashland, Wis., with a 7 p.m., puck drop.
