Northland Men’s Hockey falls short against No. 13 UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team fell in the series finale against No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 2-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday night in Eau Claire, Wis.
 
Freshman Andrew Yocum made his fourth start in net for the Jacks. In the first period, Yocum made 11 saves. The Blugolds took the lead in the first with a goal from Jack Johnston. In the second period, UWEC added another from Kyler Grundy. With the Jacks trailing by two they pulled the goalie but could not find the back of the net falling 2-0.
 
After recording 13 shots in the previous game Northland totaled 20. Ben Stewart and Jackson Breton paced the team with three. In the circle, Kenny Styles won 10 face-offs out leading the Jacks.
 
Defensively, NC blocked 14 shots. Sam Holy had a team-high three and Zach Ross and Trey Taylor were behind him with two. In net, Yocum saw 36 shots and made 34 saves for a save percentage of 94.4 percent.
 
The Jacks make their 2024 home debut next week when they host the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the Bay Area Civic Center for a two-game series starting with a 7 p.m., puck drop.
