ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team gets back to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a two-game road series with the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday and Saturday. Both games will be played at the Fanetti Community Center in Menomonie, Wis., at 7 p.m.

The Blue Devils are fourth in the WIAC with a 3-4 conference record and an overall record of 5-10-2. Last week UWS played two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams and could not come away with a win. They hosted Saint John's University and Concordia College and dropped the games 2-5 and 1-7 respectively. Despite ranking fourth in the conference the Blue Devils average 3.82 goals per game, leading the WIAC. Freshman Boyd Stahlbaum and junior Peyton Hart are on top of the conference both netting 10 goals.
The LumberJacks are coming off a bye week but they started the year with two MIAC opponents in Saint Mary's University and St. Olaf College. Northland fought hard against the Cardinals with
Evan Ilkos scoring two goals in the contest. Ilkos tied the game up halfway through the third but SMU took the lead on a powerplay goal then sealed it on an empty netter. Against the Oles, the Jacks were held out of the net and fell on the road.
Northland has a three-way tie for points leader:
Camille Marcoux,
Ben Stewart, and
Bryson Cecconi. The trio has nine points, Marcoux off of six goals and three assists, Stewart from three goals and six assists, and Cecconi with one goal and eight assists. Marcoux ranks 14
th in the WIAC in goals scored, and Cecconi ranks 13
th in the conference in assists.
In the net, senior
Viktor Wennberg has started 14 of the 17 games this season. The senior has made 520 saves to lead Division III Hockey. The defense has blocked 185 shots, the most in the conference. Senior
Ben Varga and sophomore
Trey Taylor pace the team with 18.
