ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team hits the road for its first away games of the season as they take on Concordia College (Minn.) and Saint John's University this weekend in non-conference play. The Jacks start their weekend in Moorhead, Minn., against the Cobbers at 7 p.m., on Friday, followed by the Johnnies at 2 p.m., on Saturday in Collegeville, Minn.

The Jacks started the season strong, winning their first game of the season topping Lawrence University 3-2 in overtime. Despite being outshot 21-46 Northland forced over time. The final period only needed one shot to end the game coming off the stick of Zach Ross. Senior goaltender Victor Wennberg recorded 44 saves in the win. They split the series with the Vikings the following day after dropping the game 5-3. Sophomore Camille Marcoux scored two of the three LumberJacks' goals in game two, both shorthanded. Freshman Andrew Yocum made is collegiate debut in goal
 
Concordia College started the season 1-0-1 against Aurora University last week. The Cobbers won their season opener 4-1 before drawing 2-2 the following day. The five goals have come from five different student-athletes with Joe Harguindeguy leading the team with three points. Matt Fitzgerald has been between the pipes and has 42 saves on the season.
 
The Johnnies fell in their first match of the season 0-2 to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, but found victory in their exhibition 5-4 over the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Max Borst led SJU with five shots in the loss. Bailey Huber was in goal for that game and made 29 saves.
