The Jacks traveled to Lake Forest College today where they opened up NCHA conference play against the Foresters.
The Jacks got on the ice ready to go as they immediately pressured the Foresters, ripping shots on goal. However, the Foresters would get on the board first. It wouldn't take long for the Jacks to answer as
Lucas DeBenedet would launch a shot between the pipes and put the puck in the back of the net to tie it up at 1-1. The Jacks would go into the first intermission tied up at 1-1.
The Jacks continued their strong offensive showing in the second, peppering shots at the net.
Oscar Larsson would break the tie for the Jacks with assists coming from
Jacob Jeske and
Ty Krause on the play. However, the Foresters would find a way to tie it up at 2-2. The Jacks would hold pressure on the Foresters, but wouldn't be able to score before the end of the period.
The Jacks would control the majority of the third period, but wouldn't be able to get on the board. However, they would hold the Foresters scoreless for the remainder of the period, sending the game into overtime.
Both teams would battle for control of the puck in overtime. The Jacks created scoring opportunities, but weren't able to take advantage. They would have to settle for a 2-2 tie.
The Jacks out shot the Foresters 31-27 in the match, while
David Krejcik recorded 25 saves on the night.
The LumberJacks will be back on the ice on 11/4 at Aurora University. Puck drop is set for 4pm.
