At day two of the Ponoma Pitzer Tournament in Pomona, Calif. the LumberJills played Rhodes College and the University of Redlands.
In game one Northland lost by scores 15-25, 21-25 and 20-25. Northland was lead offensively by
Kaela Huber and
Bethany Best who had nine kills each,
Caitlyn Severson had a great night as well with six kills and six digs.Â
Hannah Hitchcock had 23 assists in the match.Â
LumberJill Coach,
Kim Falkenhagen said. 'We had a much better showing and fight from the ladies in this game. Rhodes is a tall and talented team and we put up a good fight.'

In the fourth and final game in California the LumberJills took on a tough Redlands team, but were able to steal a game from them. The scores of the match were 13-25, 25-18, 13-25 and 14-25.Â
Bethany Best again led the Jills with nine kills while
Camille Eastburn had seven.Â
Julia Jehn and
Caitlyn Severson did well defensively with eleven digs each. Kendall Kowalczweski also had a good job stepping up in the middle position.Â

Falkenhagen was happy with the team's play against Redlands, 'We had a great showing and took a set from Redlands but in the end even with stellar defense Redlands was able to take the match.  This was a great tournament to get the season started and we saw some great competition. Looking forward to our home tournament this upcoming weekend.'

The LumberJills will host a tournament this weekend at home with games on Friday and Saturday September 10
th and 11
th.
