NEW ULM, Minn.– The Northland College Volleyball team ended the 2024 season with a loss to Martin Luther College 0-3 (20,25, 13-25, 15-25) in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday morning in New Ulm, Minn.

Points traded early to start the match with both teams not able to build a sizable lead. Northland scored the first two points of the set with
Kennedy Gruhlke recording a block on point two.
Britta Josephson had the first LumberJill kill a few points later. Northland rallied together four points in a row to go up three and held the small lead until the Knights tied the game at 13. Northland responded back with a three-point run with a kill and service ace from Josephson. The Knight retook the lead with four unanswered points, then a few points later grew the lead to five. A
Leah Allan kill had Northland down 20-23 but could not come back and fell 25-20.

The first four points bounced between the Jills and Knights with Gruhlke scoring for NC. Martin Luther started to build a lead with the next three points, a service error broke up the scoring run. The advantage continued to grow as MLC would go small rallies but Northland would only break up it by one point at a time resulting in a 25-13 set win for the Knights.

Set three was very similar to set two with MLC going up early. The Knights started the set with a 9-3 lead. Northland cut the lead to one after a Josephson kill and MLC attack error. Martin Luther rebuilt its lead with the next five points. The Knights would win the final set on an 8-to-2 run to win 25-15.

Josephson led the attack with eight kills. Allan and
Kodie Rempp finished behind her with six and three respectively and Gruhlke had one. Rempp assisted on 10 points in the match. Josephson and Allan both had a service for Northland.

Josephson also led the team defensively as well with 12 digs. Gruhlke and Allan ended with eights digs and Rempp tallied five. At the net Gruhlke had a solo block and Josephson and
Lily Zapp combined for one.
