The LumberJill Softball team celebrated Earth Day with a pair of UMAC victories.  Northland topped North Central University 10-1 in their first game and the University of Northwestern 11-6.  The Jills move to 10-4 in UMAC play.

The LumberJills unleashed an 11 hit attack in the North Central game that was shortened to six innings due to the 8 run rule.  Jayna Loy led the team with three hits including a home run that made her Northland's all time Home Run Leader.  Faye Koosmann also had a pair of home runs.  Kaitlyn Witthun had three hits and winning pitcher Crystal Diaz added a pair.

The Northwestern game found the LumberJills down three heading into the top of the seventh.  Northland exploded for eight runs on eight hits in the inning to take an 11-6 lead that would be the final score.  Again the LumberJills offense was strong as they ripped 15 hits.  Witthun led the way with four, Loy had three, while Cassie Baumgarten, Brigid Reina, and Briana Tody each had a pair.  Loy picked up the win in the circle.

"We hit the ball well again today."  Said Head Coach Steve Wammer, " I was really proud of that last inning, not only did we not give up with only three outs left, we took a lead and continued to press to build a big lead."
