ASHLAND, Wis. - Northland College (1-6, 1-6 NCHA) made a comeback in the third period, but it didn't come soon enough as UW Superior (3-4, 0-0 WIAC) would take the win 4-3.

This Friday evening the Northland College LumberJacks faced the Yellowjackets of the University of Wisconsin Superior. At the beginning of the game Northland was having trouble taking a shot as Superior's speed seemed to surprise the Jacks. A little over seven minutes into the period the Yellowjackets would score their first goal off of a power play. The Jacks settled into this speed race a little over halfway through the period and would find themselves a goal by Matt Lennon (assisted by Zach Kihle). This tied the score at 1-1. There were more shots to come after this goal, but the score would remain 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The Jacks came out of the locker room a little slow as Superior scored off another power play and took the lead 2-1. Northand would change goalies looking to turn the game around. The LumberJacks controlled the puck for a while after the goal, but the Yellowjackets would take over and come up with another goal. Northland took shot after shot they just couldn't find success. Then Superior had back to back goals seeming to take some fire from Northland.

The LumberJacks would not be taken for granted as they came out with fire in their eyes. A goal by Michael Berens (assisted by Anthony Stempin and Darius Cole) would be the start of the excitement. The Jacks were in the zone looking to turn the game around. A goal by Darius Cole (assisted by Stempin and Berens) turned up the intensity of both teams as there was only a one point difference. The Jacks fought hard as they went to an empty net with 11 seconds to go hoping they could get a goal. Unfortunately their comeback would fall short with Superior defeating Northland 4-3.

Jessie DiLillo had 13 saves along with Tyler Ampe's 12. The scorers for Northland were Lennon, Cole, and Berens with one goal each. Anthony Stempin had two assists. Zach Kihle, Darius Cole, and Michael Berens each had one assist. The Jacks had 34 shots on goal.
