Northland Lacrosse comes to an end after a hard-fought battle with Anderson University

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Northland College Lacrosse team has played its final game, falling to Anderson University 8-13 in a hard-fought battle Tuesday afternoon in Anderson, Ind.
 
The scoring started just over three minutes into the game with the Ravens striking first. On Northland's first man-up opportunity, they converted with a goal by Brodie Trollop to level the score. Anderson would answer back to regain its lead. The LumberJacks had to be on the penalty kill for four minutes in the first, but special teams were able to stifle the Ravens' attack to only trail 2-1 after the first.
 
The Ravens would add to their lead, scoring the first two goals of the quarter to go up 4-1. Northland would answer back, Avrey Roerick would score 19 seconds later to bring the lead back to two. Alex Walls and Christian Shields would each score their first collegiate goals to level the game at four. In the final minute, Trollop found Logan Gallagher right in front of the goal, but Gallagher's shot was saved, keeping the score tied at four entering halftime.
 
In a span of 20 seconds, the Ravens scored three goals to rebuild their three-goal advantage early in the third quarter. Northland fought back with goals by Sam Lewis and Gallagher to make the score 6-7 in favor of Anderson. AU would score four straight to close out the quarter to take its largest lead at five.
 
Trollop would start to chip away at the lead, scoring the first goal of the final quarter. The Ravens responded with two more goals. Trollop would put an end to the scoring, netting the last goal for Northland College Lacrosse for a final score of 8-13.
 
Trollop and Gallagher led Northland with four points. Trollop had three goals and one assist, while Gallagher netted one and assisted on three. Roerick also had a multiple-point game with a goal and an assist. Lewis added the scoring, and Walls and Shields each had their final collegiate goal. PJ Northrop led the Jacks defensively with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Elijah Clark played a big role in keeping Northland in the game, making 27 saves.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
