LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Northland College Lacrosse team scored a season-high 11 goals but fell 19-11 to Spalding University Monday evening in Louisville, Ky.

The Golden Eagles built their lead early in the game. Spalding scored its first goal 93 seconds in, but the LumberJacks would answer right back with a goal from
Avrey Roerick. That would be the only goal in the first for NC as the Golden Eagles would go up 8-1 after the first 15 minutes.

The Jacks had a great start to the second quarter, scoring three in a row. Goals were scored by
Brodie Trollop,
Logan Gallagher, and
Sam Lewis. Spalding would match the Jacks as they scored three goals in the back half of the quarter to maintain their seven-goal lead.

Northland would score four goals in the third quarter, with Gallagher scoring two being a man up and Trollop scoring the other two. The Jacks could not make up ground as the Golden Eagles would net five in the third.

Gallagher would cut the lead to six after scoring the first two goals of the final quarter. Spalding would respond with three more goals. Trollop would score the final a man down to make the score 11-19.

Gallagher led Northland with six points in the contest from five goals and one assist. Trollop followed with four points from goals alone, Roerick had three on a goal and two assists, and Lewis had one point from a goal.
Christian Shields and
Keenan Bayer were also able to get a shot on target, but could not beat the goaltender. Lewis and Shields led the team with seven and six ground balls, respectively. Gallagher and Roerick had a team-leading two caused turnovers, with
Trey Taylor,
Andrew Study, and
Sam Holy each recording one. In goal,
Elijah Clark made 17 saves.

The LumberJacks wrap up their season tomorrow (Tuesday) with a 2 p.m. game against Anderson University in Anderson, Ind.
