LumberJills keep busy with three games in the next four days

Northland plays its final stretch of non-conference games

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team has a busy weekend before returning to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, with three games in the next four days. The LumberJills will start with a two-game series at the University of Dubuque and then host No. 8 Augsburg University.

The Jills returned from the winter break with a two-game series against Lake Forest College. Freshman Julia Fussy netted her first collegiate goal in the opening game. Karsyn McQuaker assisted on the goal for her first point of the year. In the following game sophomore Zoey Soost made her Northland College debut, making 47 saves.
 
This season, Fussy and Kyleigh Moffatt pace Northland with two points each, both from a goal and an assist. Also scoring this season has been Kennedy Gruhlke and Kylie Schryer. McQuaker and Nevaeh Trihey each have one point from an assist. Gruhlke and Fussy lead the Jills in shots, with 24 and 22, respectively. Defensively, Hannah Chady leads the team and the WIAC with 41 blocked shots, and Tate Hutchinson is second with 23. In the goal, Maddy Bliss had 244 saves with Zoe Laming at 185, with both playing in seven games.
 
The Spartans are 2-9-1 midway through the 2024-25 season, having won their first game of 2025, 1-0, against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Aleah Giddings leads Dubuque with six points, consisting of three goals and three assists. Three other Spartans are tied with four points: Lauren Jeffery, Malia Tetreault, and Madilynn Schiile. Sophomore Savannah Wuitschick has spent the majority of time in the net and has totaled 334 saves.
 
In the most recent US College Hockey Online Poll Augsburg was eighth. The Auggies have a 7-2-1 record, with five of their wins coming by shutouts. In their most recent game, the Auggies fell to No. 11 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 2-4, on the road. Emma Abrahamson and Kate Haug pace AU with nine points. Abrahamson and Emily Cronkhite have a team-high five goals, while Haug leads the team in assists with seven. Freshman Kayla Simonson has a 4-2 record in net while maintaining a 96.1 save percentage.
