LumberJills start home series with UW-Stevens Point

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team will host the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a two-game Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series, starting on Friday at 7 p.m. and concluding on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Last week, Northland played two games at No. 2 University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Kyleigh Moffatt was able to net one against the reigning national champions in the series finale. Over the two games, the LumberJill goaltenders combined for 111 saves: Zoe Laming with 62, Zoey Soost with 34, and Maddy Bliss with 15.
 
Moffatt leads Northland in both points (6) and goals (5). Kennedy Gruhlke follows with five points, including two goals and three assists. Gruhlke and Nevaeh Trihey share the team lead with three assists each. Hannah Chady leads the WIAC with 52 blocked shots, while Trihey and Yvonne Durfee rank third and fourth, with 29 and 27, respectively. In net, Bliss has made 318 saves in 10 games, Laming has 293 saves in 11, and Soost has made 115 saves in four.
 
The Pointers are currently on a five-game losing streak, resulting in an 8-11-1 record and a 2-4-1 record in the WIAC. In their two most recent games, UWSP lost to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 0-6 and 2-5. Courtney Leising leads the Pointers with 17 points, ranking eighth in the conference. Leising's points come from eight goals and nine assists. Anne Beck and Emily Griege have made 10 starts in goal, recording 353 and 319 saves, respectively.
