ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's and Women's Golf teams travel to Minnesota to compete at the Bethany Lutheran Invite on Friday and the Martin Luther College Classic on Saturday. Both tournaments will be one round.
September 12 was the last time the golf teams were in action, competing at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview in Becker, Minn. The men finished in eighth place with sophomore
Andrew Yocum leading the way in 38
th. Freshman
Maddi Bliss paced the women with a 28th-place finish to help lead the LumberJills to sixth.
The LumberJacks will have six compete over the weekend; Yocum,
Isaiah Gueths,
Mac Reed,
Mitch Taylor,
Ryan Ehlert, and
Luke VanBaalen. VanBaalen will be making his collegiate debut at the Bethany Lutheran Invite. Gueths was the only member of the current team to compete at either of the courses last year.
The women's side will see three golfers compete as individuals over the weekend; Bliss and
Saleen Thepmontry. Bliss led the Jills at the UMAC Preview and was second at the Twin Port Collegiate. Thepmontry has improved by 10 strokes each round she has played.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
