Jacks travel to UW-Stevens Point for last nonconference game

Northland concludes road trip at UWSP

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Soccer team wraps up its early season road trip with a game at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday at noon.

The LumberJacks started their 2024 season with games at Hamline and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. In the game against UWS, Avery Zenger scored the first goal of the season to put Northland on top. At halftime, the game was knotted at 1-1 but the Blue Devils took a 3-1 victory.
 
Zenger is the Jacks leading point scorer with two points on a goal and Noah Del Vecchio has one point coming from an assist. Deshaun Williams leads Northland in shots on target, testing the keeper in both games. Rodrigo Chavez has started both games in net and has made 18 saves.
 
UW-Stevens Point enters its first season with a men's soccer program and has started the season 2-1-3. Earlier in the week the Pointers fell to Hamline University 3-2, then played to a scoreless draw against Monmouth College. Freshman Devin Wilkerson leads the offense with four goals and one assist on the season. Goalkeeper Jacob Havlik has started in net in all six games and has recorded three shutouts and made 30 saves.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
