Gomez and Ruoppolo earn UMAC honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Julien Ruoppolo and freshman Chris Gomez on the Northland College Men's Soccer team were named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention announced on Nov. 13, in St. Paul, Minn. The duo led Northland's scoring in the 2024 season.
 
In his senior season, Ruoppolo started all 17 games and played all 1530 minutes in the 2024 campaign. The Melbourne, Australia native captained the Jacks' backline. Ruoppolo found the back of the net twice, both from the penalty spot. His first goal came against the University of Northwestern to level the game at one all, resulting in Northland's first conference point of the season.
 
Gomez led the LumberJacks in all scoring metrics during his freshman season with eight points, three goals, and two assists. Chris Gomez scored his first collegiate goal against Martin Luther College to help Northland get a 1-1 result. He followed that up with a two-goal game against North Central University and added an assist. Gomez started all 17 games in his first year at Northland.

Fermin Mendoza was named to the UMAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
