Jacks host UW-Superior in final home game then end the season at Northwestern

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Soccer team wraps up the 2024 season this week as they host the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., and end the season with the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn., at 4:30 p.m.

Northland fell in its two Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games last week to Crown College and Bethany Lutheran College.
Noah Del Vecchio scored his first collegiate goal in the game against Crown. Freshman goalie
Rodrigo Chavez was busy in the net making 17 saves across both games.

Chris Gomez leads the LumberJacks in points with eight, coming from three goals and two assists. Behind him are
Julien Ruoppolo and
Deshaun Williams, who are at four from a pair of goals. Del Vecchio sits at three points from a goal and assist. Chavez leads the UMAC in saves per game at 10.2 and has made 153 this season.

The Yellowjackets captured their seventh consecutive conference title last week when they defeated Martin Luther College 10-0 to improve to 13-3-2 overall and 12-0 in conference. UW-Superior's three losses have only come against schools that are ranked or have received votes. Junior Jake Kidd paces UWS with 14 goals and has scored in the last four games. Alex Paredes has made 15 starts for the Yellowjackets in net only allowing nine goals and has made 45 saves.

The Eagles have locked up their playoff spot after a 4-0 win over the University of Minnesota Morris last week. UNW is 6-6-4 overall and 5-4-3 in conference action. Senior Aaron Hill has a team-leading five goals for 13 points on the season. Michael Machuca has started 15 games in net and has made 53 saves.

The Eagles and LumberJacks tied 1-1 in the first meeting this season. Chavez made 18 saves to keep the Jacks alive and Ruoppolo scored from the spot to level the game and help secure Northland's first conference point of the season.
