ASHLAND, Wis. – Northland College announces Nicholas Nemec as the new Head Cross Country coach for the upcoming 2024 season.

"It is an honor to accept this position, and I am excited about the opportunity ahead at Northland College," stated Nemec. "Coaching is my passion, and I can't wait to get to work right away."

For the last few years, Nicholas Nemec has been the Physical Education Teacher at Lake Superior Elementary in Ashland, Wis. While teaching he was also the Head Coach for the Ashland Middle School Cross Country and Track Team. Nemec started his coaching journey at his alma mater University of Wisconsin-Superior as a volunteer coach for the Cross Country Team.

Nemec was a collegiate runner at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. During his senior season, he was a part of the Yellowjacket team that finished first at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championship in 2017. Before that, he led the Ashland High School Oredockers to a conference title and made state all four years.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Â
