ASHLAND, Wis. – Head Coach
Jakob Wohlford of the Northland College Men's Lacrosse Team announced his resignation as the head coach on Tuesday, May 14.
After playing four seasons with the team, Wohlford spent two seasons as the head coach for the LumberJacks. Over the two seasons, he recorded eight wins at the reins and fell one game shy of reaching the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Playoffs in both seasons. As a player, Wohlford holds the record for most points in a career at Northland with 143 from 92 goals and 51 assists.
"Jakob made the transition great from a player to the head coach of the program," said athletic director Dan Schumacher. "It is unfortunate that he will no longer be with us but I wish him the best in his future career."
A national search for a new lacrosse coach will start immediately.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
