Lacrosse hosts Cornell in the final home game of the season

Northland plays must-win game against the Rams

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Lacrosse team will host Cornell College in Midwest Athletic Lacrosse action in its final home game of the season. Before the game nine series will be honored for all their work with LumberJack Lacrosse.

If Northland wins the game they will make the MLC Playoffs for the first time in program history.
 
The Rams are 5-7 on the season entering the final two weeks of the regular season and 0-2 in conference play. Last week CC fell 11-15 to the University of Northwestern at home. Freshman Charley Kobets paces Cornell with 36 points on 18 goals and assists. Senior Luke Baldwin leads the scoring with 27 goals. In net, junior Thomas Cook has started all 12 games and has made 149 saves on the season and now has the most saves for Cornell.
 
The Rams have an edge over the LumberJacks in the all-time series at 6-2. A majority of the games between the two have been close. The last Northland win came on April 18, 2021, when the Jacks won 10-7.
 
The LumberJacks last week were at Lake Forest College, the top team in the conference. Northland was unable to get the result they wanted but, found the back of the net eight times. Freshman Logan Gallagher led the scoring with six goals, while Brodie Trollop had the other two. Senior Matt Maudsley made his first collegiate start in net where he made 11 saves.
 
Gallagher leads the team in points with 39 coming from 30 goals and nine assists. Trollop is close behind at 29 points on 20 goals and nine assists. Maudsley is the other LumberJack in double-figures on the season with 12 with seven goals and five assists. For groundballs, the top three are Luke Ballard (48), Gallagher (41), and Max Shafer (30).
 
Tony Donaldson has started six games in net this season and has made 83 saves. Rudy Ruegemer has made three starts in his freshman season and has a team-high .551 save percentage. Defensively, three student-athletes have double figures in caused turnovers, Shafer leads the way with 24, Ballard is second with 13, and Bryson Cecconi rounds out the three with 10.
