ASHLAND, Wis. – On Saturday, the Northland College Lacrosse team hosts Carroll University for its 2024 home opener at Ponzio Stadium in Ashland, Wis., at 3 p.m.

The Pioneers have started the season 0-2 after falling 5-16 to Lake Forest College, then 7-23 to Concordia University (Wis.) on Wednesday. Last season Carroll finished with a record of 3-14 and were 0-6 in conference play. Leading the attack in the early stretch is freshman Brady Conwell with four points all coming from goals. In each game, Conwell has found the back of the net twice. In goal, sophomore Jake Gehl has made two starts and had 40 saves.
In the overall series, Northland leads three games to two. Last year the Pioneer won 7-6 in overtime as Carroll scored with four seconds left in regulation to force to extra frame. On average the LumberJacks score 9.6 against the Pioneers while holding them to 6.4 goals.
In the season opener, the Jacks could not keep up with CUW dropping the contest 28-3.
Cody Pfaller scored the first goal of the season for NC.
Matt Maudsley and
Phil Peacy also added to the scoring.
Tony Donaldson made 14 saves.
