Northland plays final three home matches this week

LumberJills at home for the final time this week

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Volleyball team has its final home matches this week when they host the University of Wisconsin-Superior, North Central University, and No. 16 University of Northwestern for Upper Midwest Athletic conference play.
 
Northland starts its three-match week with the Yellowjackets on Tuesday at 7 p.m. On Friday at 7 p.m., The LumberJills then host North Central on Friday at 7 p.m. Northland's final home game is against Northwestern for senior day at 1 p.m., on Saturday.

Northland Volleyball last week stepped away from conference play to host Lawrence University and the College of Saint Scholastica for a tri-match. The Jills kept most sets close but ultimately dropped both matches in three sets. Leah Allan led the team offensively and defensively with 20 kills and 23 digs.
 
The Northland attack this season has been led by Britta Josephson and Allan with 142 and 135 kills respectively. Senior Kodie Rempp has totaled 244 assists with a career-high 24 coming against Lawrence. Defensively, Allan and Josephson pace the team with 185 and 166 digs. At the net, Ellison DeZwarte has blocked 10 attacks with Rempp behind her with nine.
 
The Yellowjackets start the second half of conference play with a 6-1 UMAC record and 17-6 overall. UWS is currently on a four-game win streak and only dropped one set in the four matches. Last week UW-Superior hosted St. Scholastica where they won in three sets. Addy Gangl, Ayla Oltmanns, and Makenna Hohbein lead the Yellowjackets offensively, all with over 200 kills.
 
The Rams are 14-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Last week NCU played Maranatha Baptist University where they won in three sets, breaking its three-game losing streak. North Central is fourth in the UMAC after the first half of conference action. Sophomore Sydney Carlson paces the team with 159 kills and junior Maci Tripp has a team-high 233 digs.
 
In the American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll posted on Oct. 15 Northwestern was ranked 16 for Division III. The Eagles are 13-7 overall and 7-0 in conference action. UNW has not lost a conference set since the 2021 season. Northwestern has five student-athletes with over 100 kills with Ari Schmidt leading at 184. On the other side of the ball, Mikayla Wilber has recorded a team-high 262 digs.
