Volleyball steps away from UMAC action for Northland Triangular

Northland hosts Lawrence and St. Scholastica on Saturday

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Volleyball team will take a week's break from Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action as they host the North land Triangular on Saturday. The LumberJills start the action with a 10 a.m., match with Lawrence University then play at 2 p.m., against the College of St. Scholastica.

Last week Northland hosted Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College for conference play. The Jills batted but could not take a set on the weekend. Sophomore Britta Josephson led the attack with 19 kills, 11 coming against the Vikings. Kodie Rempp assisted on a team-high 28 points and Hannah Fisher had four aces, three against BLC.
 
Josephson and Leah Allan have led Northland offensively tallying 125 and 115 kills respectively. Rempp surpassed 200 assists last week and is up to 201 on the season. Allan has a team-leading 11 service aces with Josephson and Fisher behind with seven and six. On the other side of the ball, Allan and Josephson are also in triple digits for digs at 162 and 145. At the net, Rempp has seven blocks, two solo and five assisted. Ellison DeZwarte is one behind at six on two solo and four assisted.
 
The Vikings have a 6-16 record and are 1-2 in the Midwest Conference. In the previous two matches for Lawrence, they were shut out 0-3 by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Grinnell College. Their last win was against Knox College going 3-0 snapping a four-game losing streak. LU is led by Margaret Hahnke who is one kill away from 300 in her freshman season.
 
The Saints are 9-12 overall and 1-5 in the Minnesota Intercollege Athletic Conference. Earlier in the season CSS played the UMAC team, the University of Wisconsin-Superior where they won in four sets on the road. St. Scholastica is currently on a three-game skid. The Saints have three student-athletes in triple figures for kills, Ava Swangstue, Lindsey Baribeau, and Kaitlyn Jones.
