ASHLAND, Wis. – Northland College named Austin Hurley as the new head lacrosse coach before the 2025 season announced on Monday, Oct. 14. Hurley becomes the program's fourth head coach.
Hurley is known for being a faceoff specialist. After his success coaching faceoffs at the high school level, he broke into the collegiate level, helping Division I, II, and III and NAIA colleges in his expertise. A majority of his coaching has been in the South Carolina area, but he also spent time in Canada leading an indoor Junior B Lacrosse team. Hurley's longest tenure position was at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, S.C. where he was the head coach for seven seasons.
"I am excited to create a tradition here at Northland," said Hurley. "I respect the game of lacrosse and look forward to expressing that on the field and with the team."
Austin Hurley played four seasons with Emmanuel University Lacrosse. He entered in the program's second season and was named captain as a freshman and held that role for all four years. During his collegiate career, Hurley was also named captain of the 2016 USA Lacrosse Team at the United World Games. In the same year, he also played in the Prague Cup.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
