ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team hosts the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Bethany Lutheran College in week three of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Jills start with a midweek game against the Yellowjackets on Wednesday at 7 p.m., followed by the Vikings on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Both games will take place at Ponzio Stadium.

On Wednesday Northland will take on the number one team in the UMAC in UW-Superior. Last season, the Jills dropped the first match up 0-5 but a month later scored in the final three minutes to force a 1-1 draw.
Isabelle McCurry scored the sole goal in that game, her only last season. The overall series is tight with UWS having the slight edge at 7-5-5.

This season the Yellowjackets are 4-2-1 on the season and 4-0 in the UMAC. UW-Superior is on a four-game win streak with its most recent wins coming over the University of Northwestern, 3-1 on Tuesday and Bethany Lutheran 2-1 on Sunday. Mya Holmquist and Niya Wilson lead the Yellowjackets and third in the UMAC with five goals. The keepers for UWS are Quinn Clark and Jenna Lang combining on 31 saves this season. In her seventh season with the Yellowjackets is head coach Allison DeGroot. Â

Later in the week, the Jills will see number two in the conference Bethany Lutheran. Last season the Vikings took both games over Northland, 2-0 and 1-0. The last win for the Jills in the series was during the COVID season, where they claimed a 1-0 win. The all-time series leans in favor of the Vikings at 14-7-2.

The Vikings have started the season 4-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Last week BLC split its games with a 1-0 victory over Martin Luther College and then fell 1-2 to UW-Superior. Elena Luján Rubio is second in the UMAC with seven goals, leading the Vikings. In net, Brooke Wolanin has started all eight games for BLC recording a record of 4-2-1. Emma Morris is in her fifth season as the head coach of the Vikings.

The Jills have started the season 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the UMAC. Last week the Jills scored a late equalizer from
Norah Green to tie North Central University 1-1 on Tuesday. On the road, at Minnesota-Morris, NC was unable to find the back of the net falling 0-1.

Tiffany Tinsley has made a huge impact in her first season with the Jills. She leads Northland with three goals in six shots. Also finding the back of the net this season are

Clara Schmiesing, and Green. Setting up two goals this season is
Saleen Thepmontry.
Elysabeth Lough is fourth in the UMAC with 45 saves. Last game she recorded a season-high 14 against Minnesota-Morris.
