ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team starts Upper Midwest Athletics Conference play Tuesday as they travel to St. Bonifacius, Minn., to take on Crown College at 7 p.m., followed by a home match against Martin Luther College at 4:30 p.m., Saturday. The Jills are coming off a big 4-0 victory and look to ride the success into UMAC action.

Last season Northland drew the first match against Crown College 0-0 and followed it up with a home victory over them 1-0 in the penultimate game of the 2022 season. Both teams put up a fight with CC having 11 shots, seven on target, and NC with nine, four on target, and one in the back of the net. Northland leads the series with 18 wins, four ties, and three losses. Katie Kandt enters her third season coaching the Polars.

The series between the Jills and Knights are tied at 16 wins a piece and five ties. Last season MLC took the first game of the season 3-2 in New Ulm, Minn., and in Ashland, Wis., the game ended in a scoreless draw. Tyson Zarnstorff enters his first season as a head coach after being an assistant for five years with Martin Luther.

The Jills are riding high after claiming a 4-0 win over Maranatha Baptist. Freshman
Tiffany Tinsley was the lead scorer for Northland netting the second and third goals. Great Keffer scored the game-winning goal in the 40
th minute to help secure the win for the Jills. Coming off the bench
Saleen Thepmontry assisted two goals.

This season Keffer leads the team in shots with eight, five being on target. Tinsley,
Reece Gellerman,
Norah Green, and
Clara Schmiesing all have five shots, with Tinsley having all five on frame. Tinsley, Keffer and Gellerman all have landed on the scorers sheet this season. For points Tinsley is on top with four from two goals, Gellerman is behind her with three, one goal and one assist and Keffer (one goal) and Thepmontry (two assists) at two.

Elysabeth Lough earned her first win and shut out of the season after stopping the Sabercats. This season Lough has racked up 13 saves with her season high coming against Rippon College with six.
