MANKATO, Minn.– The Northland College Men's Soccer team was topped 4-0 by Bethany Lutheran College in the Semifinals of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament. The Jacks finished with their best record of 9-10-2 but fell short in the postseason.

The first half went the way of the Vikings, who found an early goal from Jamie Wijland in the 11th minute. BLC doubled its lead in the 40th minute. The Jacks' best attempt came when Nolan Melek had a straight shot with the keeper but was taken down from behind and he could take a shot off. Northland earned a free kick from it but the shot sailed wide.

In the second half, it was a battle between both teams with the ball traveling from end line to end line. Jamie Colvill made some big saves to keep the lead to two. With 15 minutes left a loose ball in the box ended up in the back to the Jacks' net giving BLC 3-0. After the goal, Quinn Bieber rocketed a shot from well outside to box but was saved. Northland hit the crossbar but bounced away from the goal. Whenever you should score it seems the other team will score in the next five minutes and that is what Bethany Lutheran did, winning 4-0.

The Jacks' offensive was unable to get started the way they wanted with multiple runs ending in offsides. Colvill did his best to keep the Jacks in it with five saves but with the offense getting shut out it makes it hard for the keeper.
