Volleyball Wins Lawrence Tournament, Place Four on All-Tournament Team

After sweeping the four game tournament over the weekend, the LumberJills were honored with four selections to the All-Tournament team.

Northland College Women's Volleyball had a remarkable showing in Appleton, Wisconsin over the weekend. Playing in the Lawrence Tournament hosted by Lawrence University the LumberJills went a perfect 4-0 to claim the tournament championship. Northland began the tourney with two matches on Friday. The Jills beat Rockford University (3-1) before taking match two from the hosts (3-1). On Saturday, the Jills played their toughest match of the tournament. Playing against Mount Mary University, Northland fell behind two sets to begin the match. After winning set three, the Jills won a tightly contested fourth set 26-24 to force a fifth set. The Jills went on to win the set and the match. Match four pitted the LumberJills against Maranatha Baptist University, where they won again, winning three straight sets after dropping the first.

Larissa Fossum, Alexa Zadra, Elizabeth Montgomery and Rachel Callow were all selected to the All-Tournament team. Fossum contributed 57 kills in the four matches. Montgomery added 53 kills and 11 blocks on the weekend. Zadra contributed 18 service aces and 71 digs, while Callow added 138 assists.

The LumberJills (4-4, 0-0 UMAC) open conference play at home against UW-Superior. First set is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
