Ashland, WI – The Northland College Lumberjacks have named Kale Adams as the next Head Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country.  Adams is no stranger to the sport as he boasts an impressive resume from his own cross country career while competing as a student athlete at Adams State.

Adams was a two time NCAA National Champion in 2016 and 2017 with his cross country team, and a National Runner up in 2016 with his indoor track and field team.  Adams has extensive experience competing at both cross country and track and field national championships, and he's been recognized as an NCAA DII All-American ten times.

Adams began his coaching career during his playing career at Adams State by working with the Alamosa High School team.  He has also helped design summer training programs for athletes and post-collegiate athletes.

"We're excited to welcome Kale to the Northland family," commented Athletic Director Seamus Gregory.  "This is a huge step for our program as he's the first cross country coach here to be full-time on campus.  He's obviously a competitor and has experienced success at an extremely high level.  It's very evident that Kale cares about his athletes beyond results, and I think his values will align perfectly here at Northland.  We're excited to have him joining our team!"

Adams graduated from Adams State in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in biology and as well as an interdisciplinary studies degree in physics and phycology.  In addition, he minored in Chemistry.  Adams is currently finishing up his master's degree in exercise science.

"I am thrilled that I have been presented with the chance to take over the cross country program at Northland College," said Adams.  "The hiring committee and I are in agreement that establishing a strong program will provide further opportunities for the students of Northland to learn essential skills that will help them thrive in life. I look forward to working with all current and future athletes who seek to get the best out of themselves and I'm eager to embark on the journey of chasing excellence with my fellow Northland Community!"
