Men's Cross Country Competes at NCAA North Region Championships

The Men's Cross Country team competed in the NCAA Division 3 North Region Championship race on Saturday afternoon. Three runners represented Northland at the race hosted by St. Olaf College.

Results

The Northland College Men's Cross Country program sent three runners to compete in the NCAA Division 3 Regional Championships at St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon. The field consisted of runners representing 35 Division 3 institutions from around the North Region. 28 schools received team scores, earned with at least five finishers. UW-Whitewater won the team event with two of the top three times recorded, narrowly edging fellow WIAC member UW-La Cross. Individually, Whitewater's Christian Patzka won the event with a time of 24:08.5.

With only three runners competing Northland did not receive a team score. The LumberJacks were, again, led by Beck Pope. The junior from Forest Lake, Minnesota turned in a time of 29:52.7. Ben Thompson, who completed his first season running for the Jacks, finished in 30:58.6. Ben Faber rounded out the LumberJacks to make the trip with a time of 31:23.7.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.Â
