Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comeback Falls Short for the Jacks Against CSS

ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Men's Soccer team hosted the College of St. Scholastica this evening in a non-conference match at Ponzio Stadium. After trailing 4-0 at halftime, the Jacks came roaring back in the second half but time would run out as the Jacks would fall to the Saints 4-3.

Box Score

Scholastica scored three goals in the opening half to jump out to the early 3-0 lead. Later in the half, the Saints would extend their lead to 4-0 and would take that score into the half. Izaak Clarke, who was drug down inside the box, would get the Jacks on the board with their first goal, smoking a PK goal into the net to make it 4-1 just 6 minutes into the second half. Just seconds later, Clarke would make a miraculous play zigzagging through the Saints defense after a beautiful pass from Jonah Evans to net his second goal of the game to make it a 4-2 ball game. The Jacks continued the momentum just minutes later as Thomas Carey would head a pass up to Nick Diaz and with the CSS goalie coming out, Diaz was able to side step the goalie and blast a goal from just outside the box to make it 4-3. The Jacks would have their opportunities late to tie the game but would come up short as the Saints would take this one 4-3 over the Jacks.

Shots in tonight's game were 13-11 in favor of the Saints.

Garren Aberth made 6 saves in net today for the Jacks.

The Jacks are back in action this Friday (Oct 1) as they host Minnesota Morris at Ponzio Stadium. Game time is set to start at 2pm.
