Jills Win- Advance to Next Round

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- The Northland College Women's Soccer team traveled to Minneapolis, MN today for round 1 of the UMAC Consolation Tournament vs. North Central MN. The Jills scored a goal in the first half and two in the second half to secure the victory 3-1 over the Rams.

Isabelle McCurry netted her first goal of the season just 3 minutes into today's game to put the Jills up 1-0.  The Jills continued to pepper the goalkeeper of North Central but with time winding down in the half, the Rams would find the equalizer, as the two teams were tied 1-1 into halftime. 

McCurry sparked the Jills once again just 6 minutes into the second half with her second goal of the game to give the Jills the 2-0 lead. The Jills continued to carry play and were rewarded with an insurance goal off the foot of Kaylee McPeak to give the Jills the 3-1 lead. The defense from the Jills would lock down the offense of the Rams and the Jills would push forward to victory, winning 3-1. 

Abby Wilso made 5 saves in net today for the Jills. 

The Jills will travel to Mankato, MN to take on the #5 seed Vikings of Bethany Lutheran College this Wednesday (March 5th). Game time is set to start at 6:30pm. 

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
