The LumberJills took on the Martin Luther College Knights today at the Chapple Family Gymnasium.
 
Set 1 saw the two teams battle back and forth early in the set. The Knights would widen their lead over the Jills 10-5. However, the Jills would fight back and cut the Knights lead down to 1 at 15-14. The Jills would eventually take the 15-17 lead, but wouldn't be able to hold on. Martin Luther took set 1 25-23.
 
In set 2 Northland jumped out to the early lead, but a 4-point rally by Martin Luther College would put them up 4-1. Another 3-point rally by the Knights would widen their lead over the Jills, but the Jills wouldn't give in and would cut the Knights' lead down to 12-11. However, the Jills' offense would have a difficult time breaking through the Martin Luther College defense and would drop the set 25-18.
 
In what would be the final set of the match, both teams would keep pace with one another and take the lead multiple times. However, a 9-point rally by Martin Luther would give them a lead that they would hold on to, claiming the set 25-14 and taking the match 3-0.
 
Northland Senior Camille Eastburn led the Jills in kills with 8, while Freshmen Justine Litherland recorded 7 and Senior Bethany Best added 5. Junior Hannah Hitchcock finished the day with 21 assists and Junior Adrianna Galtieri led the team with 18 digs.
 
The LumberJills honored their two seniors, Bethany Best and Camille Eastburn before the game today, as well as the parents of the student-athletes.
 
The Northland College volleyball team will be back in action on 10/25 against the UW-Superior Yellowjackets at home.
